I have albums on the mind today! Well, that’s probably because I just got my second sample album in, and, because I have 2-3 album designs to get cracking on. My first sample was at the upper level of the price spectrum – big, standing at 20 inches tall. Complete with the Deluxe Armour cover upgrade. It definitely pulls out all the stops. Wonderful and awesome, but a bit daunting. Many see that album and know they want an album but have a hard time picturing something more reasonable. In comes the 8x10.
I will admit that upon completing and ordering the album, I was not super excited. It’s the smallest fine art album I offer, and I went with a basic cover. The only upgrade is 3 extra pages. When it arrived though, wow! My opinion changed. I immediately grabbed both albums and my camera and set up a little shoot in the backyard.
The spine on this one is a little different – rounded as opposed to square. Many of the deluxe covers require the square spine, but with the basic cover options round is available. I rather like the look!
This album shines even standing next to the big guy. It’s simplicity creates a feeling of elegance. The textured leather truly feels like something you could easily see holding 100 years from now. It does prove that size isn’t everything!
Price wise, the big 20x8 album would cost just over $2500, where the little guy would land at $1090 with the extra pages. Which for sure makes the 8x10 is a reasonable option for those that want something nice and timeless but need to stick to a budget. This album is even more reasonable if opted for a wedding package that included album credit!
To sum it up, I love this album! It will proudly come with me to meetings and sit on the display table at bridal shows!
Next projects – my third sample album, which will sit in the middle of the pack (12x12, 10x15, or 12x16), a client album which will be an 8x10 with the TooTone cover option, and the last is my own wedding which should be fun and may end up becoming 2 designs (one for the parents and one for us!).
Now lets just see if I can get all of that plus a bunch more done before my little assistant arrives. He's only 35 weeks old at the moment. :)
